The beauty in discovered music and the humor of unexpected context

Shannon recently found a very interesting New York born musical artist by the name of Krishna Das. We were able to pick up one of his albums called Pilgrim Heart from our eMusic subscription and both of us really like him.

Our favorite track so far is Mountain Hare Krishna, which features Sting (yes, the one and only) providing backup vocals. Sting plays bass on another track. This song has amazed us both for the beautiful contrast between Das and Sting’s voices and the mashup of a traditional Indian chant with lyrics and sounds from Amazing Grace. Wow! I recommend that you head on over to eMusic to buy Pilgrim Heart or get it from iTunes or your favorite local music store.

On the lighter side, given that Das is singing and playing Eastern spiritual music we both had a good laugh over this view of his album (pictured below) in my iTunes playlist. Das is flanked by KISS and Kylie Minogue. I mean come on, that’s classic!
