Shannon recently found a very interesting New York born musical artist by the name of Krishna Das. We were able to pick up one of his albums called Pilgrim Heart from our eMusic subscription and both of us really like him.
Our favorite track so far is Mountain Hare Krishna, which features Sting (yes, the one and only) providing backup vocals. Sting plays bass on another track. This song has amazed us both for the beautiful contrast between Das and Sting’s voices and the mashup of a traditional Indian chant with lyrics and sounds from Amazing Grace. Wow! I recommend that you head on over to eMusic to buy Pilgrim Heart or get it from iTunes or your favorite local music store.
On the lighter side, given that Das is singing and playing Eastern spiritual music we both had a good laugh over this view of his album (pictured below) in my iTunes playlist. Das is flanked by KISS and Kylie Minogue. I mean come on, that’s classic!
I was checking out a music site I found on Alltop (hint: aggregators are new and useful again!) today called The Music Slut (great site) and saw this video featuring Kanye West’s song called “Stronger” performed by baratsandbereta.com. You just have to watch – very creative.
I’m editing film clips I recorded a week ago for an upcoming vlog for LocalNa8ion.com, my web site about local online marketing and thought you might get a laugh on this little segment where a certain choice of words led me down the wrong path. Thought I might as well save it for an outtakes video that I’ll put together after I’ve been doing this a while. Cheers!
I’m working today with Shannon and her work compadre Chris here at the home office on operational planning. During a break from our intense flip-charting and brainstorming we took a youtube break. The parody of the movie Glengarry Glen Ross below is a classic.
I was sitting and working away on my computer a few minutes ago when I notice Shan is listening to a rap song on her computer. Not unusual. It seemed a little weak by the sounds of things but I wasn’t paying much attention.
The rhymer’s kept talking about representin’ 802 (if you don’t know rap, area codes are often used to represent the hood you’re from). About the 20th time that they said 802, and the fact that Shannon was starting to crack up, I put two and two together (or 802 as it happens) and realized that 802 is the area code for Vermont. It doesn’t take a genious to know that rap and Vermont don’t go together. I used to live next door in New Hampshire. It’s funny – enjoy the laughs.
