I just started a family wiki using the Wetpaint wiki service over at http://www.2gude2btrue.wetpaint.com/page/Home in the hopes of capturing family stories, pictures and maybe a podcast or two. For now, the contributors will be my cousin Jeanne Taysom, my Aunt Pat and my Dad Lorenz.

Our New Address

We’re moving Saturday July 15, 2006
We’re very excited to be in an old historic Spanish style house (1930) in the El Cid neighborhood just north of where we used to live in Prospect Park when we were on Westminster Rd. We’re about 1/4 mile from downtown West Palm Beach and just a block away from our beloved Intracoastal waterway. House has a lot of similarities to Pat’s old house in Alameda which makes it quite comfy. Mum and Neil will be helping us move before pushing off on the next leg of their world journey. At least they get 5 days in the new place to know what that’s like before they take off.
Curious Julsie

Took John and Julia to see Curious George tonight. It was
Julia’s first movie and I think she liked it. I was surprised that she was as restless as she was – she probably lasted about 40 minutes before she was ready to be done. John got a little restless at times but I think it was more about him being used to standing up and moving around the house then being bored with the movie itself. Shannon and I both liked the movie a lot. The colors were magnificent! Story was simple and nice as a kids movie should be. It seems like there is plenty of room in the market for great movies like The Incredibles and Shrek as well as 2-D low tech but high art, well storied movies like George. Good on ya George.
World’s Shortest Fairytale

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl “Will you marry me?” The girl said,”NO!” And the guy lived happily ever after and went fishing and hunting and played golf a lot and drank beer and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END
Thirty Seven

Good God I’m old (as of 63 minutes ago at least). Oh well, like a guy told me tonight after I said something about getting older, “It’s better than the alternative.” He has a fine point.
So, THANK YOU for this gift of life, Shannon, my kids and family and the noggin between my ears and this vessel that I’m occupying at present to shuttle me from place to place. I’ve led a fortunate 37 years and I’m deeply thankful for what I have been given.
Humbly
Julian
Kristen off into the Yonder
January 21st, 2006 — Family, Noteworthy
Today our Florida Family will celebrate my upcoming Monday birthday and much more importantly, Kristen’s send off to Zambia, where she will spend two years as a Peace Corp volunteer. I hope she has a great experience like my Uncle Ron did when he went as a young man. Shannon and I used to work with a nice guy in Miami, Jacques Hart, who really enjoyed his time in the Corp in South America. Kristen wrote a beautiful poem on her blog the other day that was very touching. Great, inspired piece from a talented writer. I hope that Zambia isn’t too much. I am sure that it will be shocking to her to be in a true third-world environment for the first time. For this to be her first trip overseas will certainly set the tone for future travel and adventures. If she hangs in for her two year tour I have no doubt that she will be an even better person for it and hopefully leave the last of her doubts about herself behind! I know they will be impressed with Kristen’s intellect, intensity, drive, desire to contribute and have fun and her ability to analyze people and situations. Best of luck Kristen, we send you off with love and god speed.
and now, for a complete list of Web 2.0 applications…

I was at John Prince Park in Lake Worth last week with John and Julia when a water truck went by with the words ‘NON POTABLE WATER’ written on the side. In many ways this warning on the water truck reminded me of Web 2.0. Surely I jest. No, not at all. Web 2.0 is one of those annoying, insider terms used by geeks inside the Valley and other points similar to describe the next round of web tools, services and products. I don’t think Web 2.0 says that very well and because it has such range people get confused as to what ‘it’ is. So, I thought this list might help.
Great ad spoof. Jeep should *do* this one

Great idea for a Jeep ad. I could actually see it playing in Europe or Oz but probably not around this neck of the woods. Too bad, it doesn’t seem patently offensive to women (I could be wrong) and it is low key in a way that almost makes it feel subtle – even though there’s nothing subtle about it.
Wow. This guy is amazing!

I can’t seem to stop myself from trying to figure out how all the themes and plugins work for WordPress. I’ve completely forgotten the most important part…The content stupid!

It’s 4:57AM and I still haven’t gone to bed. There’s something seriously wrong with this picture.
